Description

The Employer of the Year Award recognizes outstanding achievement by a VICA Member company within the construction industry that has demonstrated sustainable compensation and finances, employee retention, and personal/professional development, while providing a safe and healthy workplace environment.

Requirements

AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE:

The 2024 VICA Awards are open to all VICA Industry Members in good standing. Nominees must have been VICA Members for a minimum of six (6) months at time of submission. Submissions for the VICA Awards can be self-nominated or independently nominated.

You will be asked to submit:

  1. 500-word (maximum) description of why the Nominee is worthy
  2. Minimum of two (2) letters of support with contact information. Letters must be of a business nature and not from a personal contact (eg. Family member); one letter may be from a contact within your company. These letters are required to validate your nomination.
  3. High-resolution photo(s) e.g., headshot or photo in action (if you do not provide a photo, VICA will choose a suitable image to represent you in the program)

Award Conditions:

  • The Chair of the VICA Board of Directors is not eligible during the year in which he or she holds such position.
  • The decision of the Awards Committee is final and not subject to appeal.
  • If the entry contains any feature that is, or could be, protected by patent rights the submission must be accompanied by written evidence demonstrating that the necessary steps have been taken to secure the requisite legal protection; neither the sponsor of the VICA Award nor the Vancouver Island Construction Association (VICA) can assume any responsibility for “prior disclosure” in advance of a patent application.
  • All submissions in support of a Nominee for the VICA Awards become the property of VICA.
  • All photographs submitted with VICA Award nominations also become the property of VICA. These will be used to promote the VICA Awards, the Association, and the construction industry.
  • Submissions timestamped after the submission deadline will not be considered.

JUDGING PROCESS

  1. A panel of judges will review and score all submissions against the prescribed criteria. The judges reserve the right to re-assign entries to the category they deem fit. The judges results will account for 75% of your final score.
  2. A separate and independent online vote by members will then occur. The members online vote accounts for 25% of your final score. The combined results of the judges scoring, and the members voting will constitute the winner.
